Trip of a Life Time
By Eric Gayland I recently enjoyed a 4 week holiday to the Southern part of the USA. My trip commenced in New Orleans with a 10 day Cosmos Bus Tour and the highlights included:-
New Orleans – A Paddle Steamer cruise on the mighty Mississippi River; the traditional jazz and amazing night life of the French Quarter.
Natchez - Visiting a magnificent ANTUBELLUM home (pre Civil War 1861).
Memphis - The emotional experience of touring Graceland and visiting Elvis Presley’s gravesite.
Nashville - Enjoying a night of country music at The Grand Ole Opry.
Atlanta - The grave of Martin Luther King Jnr and the Civil Rights Museum.
Savannah - A trolley tour around this beautiful city which is the oldest in Georgia.
Orlando - ECPOT Theme Park at Disneyworld; Seaworld, and the Kennedy Space Centre.
On completion of this tour I travelled to Miami and experienced Miami Beach, the thrill of an air boat ride through the Everglades and a great day tour to the Floria Keys and Key West , the southern most point in USA.
My final week away was spent at the gorgeous town of Aiken, South Carolina, from where I attended 3 days of the US Masters Golf Tournament at the famous Augusta National Golf Club, an amazing experience for a golf fan. Anyone interested in a future Masters Experience can log on to Chasing Birdies.com.au for further information. It is organised by S.E.N.Golf Commentator Mark Allen and emanates from Melbourne each year.
The whole 4 weeks was the trip of a lifetime for me. Not many Australians include that part of America in their itineraries but I can thoroughly recommend they consider doing so.
