RCA wins Master Builders Awards 2011
Retirement Communities Australia (RCA) has been collecting awards for Point Cook Village, Victoria with the recent announcement that RCA won the Department of Health and Ageing National Award for Lifestyle for Seniors– Purpose Built Detached Dwelling – Over 10 Units category in the Master Builders National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards for 2011. The fully integrated developer, designer, builder and operator of Point Cook Village was also placed as Runner Up in the HIA Victorian Awards - the only retirement village that was selected as a finalist.
Point Cook Retirement Village offers 258 villas and 24 apartments, with a 1400 square metre resort-style clubhouse and a landscaped waterway traversing the village grounds.
Residents have a choice of 7 villa or apartment floor plan designs, which each include 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a study, fully equipped kitchen, lounge and dining rooms, store room, double or single lock-up garage, and north-facing outdoor courtyard or terrace.
The Village has been designed to optimise flexibility of use by residents as they age-in-place: all villas are accessible without mounting steps; the bathrooms have no step into the double shower; and, the kitchens are fitted with ample under-bench draws, rather than cupboards, for easy access.
The Awards for ‘seniors housing’ recognise the growing awareness of the importance of providing residential dwellings which offer a range of lifestyle choices for older Australians.
RCA Managing Director, Andrew Philip said “Awards like these are a great endorsement for RCA’s core belief that great value for money need never be compromised by the quality of the built form in retirement communities. We are very pleased to be honoured in this way, but more importantly, we are delighted to be able to report it back to our residents who have entrusted RCA with their retirement lifestyle.”
