Point Cook Village Caravan and Camping Club - Grampians Gardens Halls Gap Trip
Resident Article by Madeline Moore, Point Cook Village Resident CARAVAN AND CAMPING CLUB - Trip to the Grampians Gardens Halls Gap
Sixteen couples joined us in Halls Gap for this second club outing.
The caravan park was a little out of town but very clean and tidy.
There was abundant wildlife, especially the sulphur crested cockatoos which took great delight in waking us at the crack of dawn and returning as the sun went down. Two resident Emus roamed the park to Irises consternation. The local pub was a very short walk down the road which we used twice for dinner.
We tried to visit as many of the attractions as we could. High on the list were the Seppelt/Great Western Winery, Lake Fyans and Mackenzie Falls which where magnificent.
Joanne and John enjoyed the Aboriginal Centre. An 18 hole mini golf course kept us busy and laughing and was great fun.
On the Saturday and Sunday Halls Gap hosted a Food and Wine Expo and on Sunday a craft market. Hilla and Neil bravely walked into town as they did every day whilst the rest of us caught the courtesy bus loaned by the local cricket club.
Most evenings where spent gathered around the fire (wood courtesy of Max and Iris who went hunting and gathering) with a wine and friends.
