After years of working, retirement is an opportunity to relax and enjoy life with familyand friends. Many seniors who have retired have a vast amount of knowledge and expertise in their industry however, and it can be a shame to let all this experience go unused. Although you aren’t working any longer, you might like to keep up with what is happening in your industry and connect with others who share similar interests. Starting a blog is an easy way to do this, and can provide you with a way to pass on your knowledge while enjoying being part of an online community of like-minded individuals. What is a blog? The term ‘blog’ is short for ‘weblog’. A blog is an online diary where you share information and photographs, and interact with readers. Anyone can start a blog and there are blogs about anything and everything from writers all over the world. Some people use their blogs to share personal stories, travel photographs and to let friends and family know what they are up to. Others use blogging as a networking tool to help establish their credibility and authority as an expert in their industry. What you choose to do is up to you! One of the great features about a blog is that readers have the ability to comment underneath each entry (called a post). When you read other peoples’ blogs, you can write a comment or start a discussion underneath the post. Commenting on other blogs can be an enjoyable way to interact with others and share your views, or get involved in a lively debate on a particular topic. How do I start a blog?
