Point Cook Village - End of Year Roundup
The fashion plates were out in force and would have rivalled those at Flemington as both ladies and men went all out at a function held in the Clubhouse. Cup Day is one of the premier events on the Social Calendar each year, when the room is decorated with balloons and racing caricatures and the community enjoys a flutter on the sweeps, catering and a glass of bubbles or two.
Speaking of bubbles, the bar in the Clubhouse was transformed for a cocktail party recently - with black tie waiters and delicious concoctions shaken and stirred that ensured all who attended enjoyed a glamorous and fun evening. Throughout the year, social, sporting and special events give residents an opportunity to organise, volunteer or participate in the life of the village.
The creative community was on display in October at the second Artisans Market Day. Residents and their families and friends were joined by visitors from the local community to stock up on Christmas gifts, cakes and preserves. A diverse range of talents meant that they stalls displayed something for everyone - from jewelry to painted china, soap and candles to knitted beanies and paintings to woodwork. The craft ladies also catered for the event, with delicious home baked goods on the menu for morning tea at a very modest price.
Throughout the year, residents enjoy visiting performances at Morning Melodies - which sometimes include some hilarious audience participation! Whilst the Festive Season is now upon us, the folk at Point Cook Village got a little carol singing practise in at Christmas at July earlier in the year. The village has two festive dinners leading up to Christmas and a gala New Year's Eve party every year, so there will plenty of scope to celebrate at our first village in the west.
Residents over the Christmas and New Year period will enjoy a number of organised activities for those that would like to participate.
- 13th and 14th of December - Christmas Dinner with entertainment
- 16th of December - Final Happy Hour for the year and sausage sizzle
- 31st of December - New Years Eve with entertainment (the Dalton Gang)
